Many people lose parts of their teeth because of decay or an accident. White fillings are particularly useful as they bond to teeth and can be used to repair as well as just a filling, this is especially important if front teeth are damaged.

White fillings are more cosmetically pleasing and more versatile than silver ones so can be shaped easily and used to repair broken teeth or to cover discolourations. They are also safer than silver (amalgam) fillings which contain mercury.

White fillings also look great in the front of your mouth. They can be placed onto the surface of your tooth using a dental technique called bonding. Bonding allows dentists to mold beautiful smiles like artists mold clay statutes. The use of a light hardened white filling allows dentist to mold, shape, and sculpt your tooth without worrying about time or having to rush through the white filling procedure. After the dentist is sure the white filling looks great, it is then hardened using a dental curing light. When the light is placed close to the white filling material, the white filling material begins to chemically change and harden. Dental curing lights have really improved the dentist's ability to use of white filling materials to create beautiful smiles.
Chameleon Fortress Restorations
Fortress™ is a specially reinforced ceramic with twice the strength of normal porcelains, approximating the strength of cast or pressed ceramics. This increased strength is accomplished by initiating crystal formation within the glass matrix of the ceramic powder during the manufacturing process. Leucite crystals with a high thermal expansion coefficient are embedded in a glass matrix with a low thermal expansion coefficient. Compressive stresses at the interface between the leucites and the glass within the porcelain are built up. When cooled after firing, these transform to actually counteract against fracture and cracking. As no core is required, the benefits of this increased strength can be experienced in thin layers, making Fortress™ ideal for veneers and inlays.
